I think perhaps Windows users are best suited using OneNote while Mac users will find Evernote more enjoyable. The main reason I made the switch to OneNote was because I bought a Surface Pro 4 and the handwritten note at a quick pen click was hard to ignore. I was actually more mentally in line with OneNote's system. In cleaning up my notes and deleting things that weren't specifically nesseccary to save I found that I didn't need Evernote's extensive tagging system. Tech giant Microsoft has released its OneNote Importer for Mac users that would enable them to import data from digital note-taking apps - from Evernote to OneNote. There was no reason for me to have saved it. But most of the stuff I had saved was just as easily found via Google. I had become a hoarder in Evernote as if I was making my own search engine. This importer will scan your computer for Evernote notebooks, then display and tick the checkboxes before these notebooks itself. Run Microsoft’s Onenote Importer and accept the license agree. I also realised that I had saved a ton of stuff that I didn't need or use. Make sure the above two tools have been installed on your computer. In moving the notes from one app to the other I realized that I rarely used any of these tags and that they hadn't helped me in any way. I had tons of carefully arranged tags and sub-tags in Evernote. I had previously believed I was the first type. While OneNote is more for people who group things more generally and rely mainly on search. Evernote is for people who love the minutae of organization. What I have come to believe is that the two apps are not truly competitors in the sense that each app will satisfy a different mindset. Evernote offers searching through text, handwritten notes, and tags. I made the switch to OneNote this past month. When your notes get too big, searching through them easily is very important.
